MacroPep — Privacy Policy

Effective June 23, 2026 · Last updated June 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the MacroPep app (“MacroPep,” “the app,” “we,” “us”) handles your information. MacroPep is a personal fitness, nutrition, and medication/peptide tracking tool, designed to keep your data on your device. We do not operate user accounts, we do not run ads, and we do not track you across apps or websites.

1. The short version

2. Information stored on your device (and your iCloud)

The following live in the app's local database on your device: workouts, sets, cardio, and history; meals, calories, macros, and extended nutrition; body weight, measurements, and progress photos; peptide/medication protocols, doses, schedules, and inventory; and app settings. You can delete this data any time in the app, or remove all of it by deleting the app.

iCloud sync (optional). If you are signed into iCloud and leave iCloud enabled for MacroPep, the app uses Apple's CloudKit to sync this data to your private iCloud database, so it is available on your other devices and can be restored if you lose or replace your phone. This data stays within Apple's iCloud under your Apple ID — MacroPep does not operate a server for it and cannot access it. You can turn it off in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud. With iCloud off, your data stays on the one device (and in your normal device backup, if enabled).

3. Apple Health (HealthKit)

If you grant permission, MacroPep reads your step count and body weight from Apple Health, and writes your finished workouts and logged body weight to Apple Health. Health data accessed through HealthKit is used only to provide these in-app features. We never use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing, never sell or share it, and never use it for data-mining. HealthKit data is not transmitted to us or any third party. You can review and revoke Health permissions in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.

4. Camera and photos

MacroPep uses the camera, with your permission, to scan food barcodes and to take progress photos when you log your body weight. Progress photos are stored only in the app's local database. MacroPep does not upload them and does not write to your photo library.

5. Information sent off your device

To return nutrition information, MacroPep sends the search words and barcode numbers you enter to the following services. These requests contain only the food query/barcode — not your name, account, contacts, location, or any health data:

If you connect a music service, the app communicates with that service to list and play your playlists: Apple Music / MusicKit (system player), and SoundCloud / Spotify (OAuth; the access token is stored on your device). MacroPep shares no fitness, nutrition, or health data with these services.

Adding a food (optional). If MacroPep can't find a scanned product and you choose to add it, the product information you enter — the barcode, name, brand, serving size, and nutrition — is sent to our food database (db.macropep.com) for review and may be added so other users who scan that barcode can find it. This is product label data, not personal data; please don't include any personal information, and we don't attach your identity to a submission.

6. What we do not do

7. Children

MacroPep is intended for adults (18 and older). The medication/peptide tracking features are gated behind an 18+ confirmation. The app is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

8. Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives on your device, you control it. Delete individual entries in the app, or delete the app to remove all of its local data. Health data is managed in the Apple Health app. Food queries sent to the third-party services above are processed by those services under their own retention policies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
